CSCC Reports 2015: Basingstoke Canal - Feb 2015
Stewart organised a trip on the Basingstoke Canal on 8 February, Dan and Stephen joining him. It was a lovely sunny winter day, but the slow moving water remained frozen in places and we had to crunch our way through. Fortunately our Canadian canoes stood up well to the ice, but our wooden paddles will need some repair work. We launched at the Canal Centre at Mytchett, near Farnborough and made it a bit beyond the aquaduct over the dual carriage-way. We didn't indulge in any unseemly behaviour at Great Bottom Flash. Instead we opted for a tasty late lunch at the Swan pub on our paddle back.
