CSCC Reports 2007: Thames Reading to Hurley - April 2007
Chris, Richard Sz, Peter, Julian, Gordon, Jenny, Frank, Dan Jones, Beth, Russ, Bridget, David and Julia M took part in this 14 mile trip from Reading to Hurley in blazing sunshine. Hilary was there as well, but not paddling. After an initial stretch on the wider river passing Sonning we diverted along the narrow and winding St Patrick's Stream backwater which made a very pleasant change from the main channel. We briefly rejoined the main river and had an enjoyable lunch stop at the riverside St George and Dragon in Wargrave before continuing along Hennerton Backwater. We rejoined the main river again just before Henley. The long and straight Henley Regatta course was followed by Hambledon lock as the river turned East passing wooded islands before reaching Hurley. A truly excellent day out.Chris's pictures: http://s115.photobucket.com/albums/n293/romanyexplorer2003/Reading Apr 2007/
