Rob, Stephen and I paddled from Seaford to Birling Gap and back on 29 May 2021. The conditions were favourable (light easterly winds and minimal chop) and we enjoyed a lunch in the sunshine and cooked ourselves a multi course dinner on the beach at Cuckmere haven using our stoves. The only disappointment was that we could not spot anywhere suitable for camping overnight (we’d packed our gear in our boats). It was fantastic to get out on the sea again after being stuck inland for many months by covid restrictions. Our thanks go to Rob for organising everything.
NB If running this trip again beware if there are strong south westerly winds because the shingle beaches were very steep and would have dumping surf in those conditions.
