In line with Paddle UK’s standards for deployment, the Club has adopted risk assessments for the different types of activity undertaken by its paddlers. These are supplemented by pre-launch forms. It is strongly recommended that all paddlers read the relevant risk assessment and pre-launch form before coming on a club trip, as they place certain responsibilities on us all, and not just on the Club’s volunteers. The Club’s volunteers accept that they owe a duty of care to its paddlers and seek appropriate training, but everyone who paddles with us needs to play their part in ensuring that everyone is alive and well at the end of a trip. For example, everyone needs to have made a realistic self-assessment of their own swimming ability, and be willing to remain with the group’s leader & to inform the trip leader of any medical conditions that may impact on their participation.
